DECEMBER 2018 - THIS week's PICTURE

Marylebone Station : photo by Malcolm Aslett

Not one of the grandest stations in London. Very homely. Queen Anne red brick and understatement. Not the grandest of entrances.

This pic makes a big deal of the bollards acting as sentries and doesn't work hard at fitting the joins. The chaos is really inside with the bustle of passengers.

This was taken on a cold and grubby day and I thought that a center might be found when I put the pieces together. That didn't happen. The near-empty entrance, the lack of activity on the pavements. You would expect it to be busier and eventful. But it isn't. In the details, the window in the central gable is curtained like a bedroom with a weak electric light leaking out. Not much is being given away here.
